Uncontested Divorces

Our Kirkland uncontested divorce attorneys are experienced and are here to help.

What is uncontested divorce?

In simple terms, uncontested divorce is simply when both parties agree to the divorce. When this is the case, filing for an uncontested divorce will save time and money, as there are more streamlined processes in place in the Washington court system. You and your spouse come together to make decisions about how the marriage will end.

Our WA State Divorce Lawyers can help you with your uncontested divorce.

Uncontested divorces are possible if you and your spouse agree on the issues of child-custody, property division and spousal support. The process of uncontested divorce will also be much less expensive than contested divorce, as there will be lower court costs and less work for the attorney involved.

Although much simpler and less expensive, uncontested divorces are not always the best option. If you have children, a large amount of shared "community" property, or a potential disagreement with your spouse, you should strongly weigh whether uncontested divorce is appropriate. While easier, an uncontested divorce comes at the cost of possibly reaching custody or property decisions that are not satisfactory to both parties.

Our Kirkland divorce attorneys have years of experience and will make the uncontested divorce process easy for you.

All you have to do is fill out a questionnaire and turn it into us... We take care of the rest. We will take about a week or two to draft the first set of orders. We then review them with you and make any necessary revisions. Once you and your spouse have signed them, we make sure they are properly filed and recorded. There is a 90-day waiting period from the date of the initial filing before the final Decree of Dissolution can be filed. In total, the whole uncontested divorce process takes about three or four months.
